Junior Blue
Hello and let me introduce you to Junior Blue.
There are currently two SNA, s supporting our class as Brenda and Edel job share. We are on our secondary education journey.
There are eight pupils in Junior blue aged between 12 -15.Our main aim is to encourage and empower the pupils to reach their full potential and develop a positive approach to their wellbeing and self-esteem.
We have many opportunities to work with Secondary Blue on various projects and themes which is very exciting. Last year we worked together on ‘The Make a Book Initiative’ which the pupils really enjoyed. We also developed many positive relationships with students for TUS Athlone while completed this worthwhile project. The pupils attended many workshops in the college and it really supported their self-esteem and wellbeing. We were supported by local storyteller Paul Timoney with this initiative.
We are following the JCSP Programme (Junior Cert Schools Programme). This is a department of Education and skills accredited level 3 Junior cycle initiative that enables the student’s access in a creative and differentiated manner. Students follow the programme over a two or three year period depending on the individual’s progression.
The JCSP programme is made up of statements with many targets for our pupils to work on. Example of these statements are: Basic Skills (Reading& maths).The programme is assessed on an ongoing basis and is differentiated to suit each pupil. We create a portfolio that recognises the pupil’s uniqueness and celebrates their strengths.
